Not only Wei Yi. Strong Chinese GMs charge the top spots
Opening: C65, E10: Ruy Lopez: Berlin defense, Queen's Pawn Game
Opening: C65, B33: Ruy Lopez: Berlin defense, Sicilian defense
Player(s): Yu Yiangyi, Bruzon, Nepomniachtchi, Dominguez Perez
Everybody talks about the 16-year-old Wei Yi is China's #1 contender for World Championship, but there's another player right on his heels. Yu Yangyi is five years older, but still only 21. While scoring 4.5/ in the first leg of the Capablanca Memorial he ended up winning with a round to spare, Yu has shown a great variety of styles. Analyzing Yu's games proved to be a difficult task. I can only imagine what is like to play him.
