It's been somewhat overshadowed by the FIDE World Cup that partially overlapped it, but the 2015 Karpov Poikovsky tournament has been a treasure trove of Game Of the Week candidates. The organizers have smartly invited players with reputations for enterprising play, and the players have delivered. Alexey Shirov is from Mikhail Tal's Latvian school of chess, and has been said to play on his own 'planet' and create 'fire on board.' In this week's matchup, he may actually be the tamer player of the two, as Israeli grandmaster Emil Sutovsky is pretty much always pushing forward, with little regard for his safety. Their second round matchup, unsurprisingly produced quite a few sparks.
